Wiring Compassion at the Douglas County Justice Center

DCJC 05

A three-year project saw its completion this spring. The Douglas County Justice Center at 17th and Harney Streets in downtown Omaha opened to the public on June 1, 2023.

From concept to completion, the journey toward reforming the county’s juvenile detention center was a collaborative one. Miller Electric provided the electrical and low voltage work on the Tower, Youth Center and construction of a new skybridge.

Inside the Tower are brand-new, light, open and airy spaces for the Douglas County Juvenile Court, Juvenile Court Administrator, County Attorney, Public Defender and staff, Juvenile Court Clerk’s office and community spaces for young people.

Problem solved before it becomes one.

Miller Electric developed BIM drawings and used them to layout floors ahead of mason work. The prefab department assembled kits with everything needed to rough in rooms and had them delivered onsite so that electricians had everything they needed to efficiently complete rooms, keeping the project on time.
