In a year everyone would rather forget, filled with tragedy and trouble, there was at least one silver lining – Miller Electric received its highest ranking ever, #100, among the ENR Top 600 Specialty Contractors, and #32 among the Top Electrical Firms. To be considered among the nation’s elite electrical contractors in a year where so many businesses are struggling is a testament to our customers’ loyalty and the caliber of our employees, who never tire of doing the right thing.
Top Contractors Care for Their Employees and Customers’ Safety
As a group, the Top 600 generated revenue of $151.27 billion in 2019, up 11.9% over $135.20 billion in 2018. Revenue had been experiencing double-digit growth for the past four years, and through the end of last year rose 128.2% since the market recovery began in 2011.
One trait the top commercial electrical contracting firms share in common is a commitment to protecting workers, customers and their families through extensive safety programs, specialized PPE, and a diverse market portfolio.
When the pandemic hit, Miller Electric worked with general contractors and facility managers to protect employees with appropriate physical distancing, sanitizing of surfaces and tools, masking and proper hygiene procedures. Doing so meant electricians and project managers could continue to work safely.
Helping Communities Respond, Directly and Indirectly to COVID-19
Sometimes, that work involved projects directly related to the pandemic, as was the case with the surge tents Miller Electric helped install for Nebraska Medicine.
Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) are leaders in pandemic treatment, training and quarantining methods. Known for providing relief during the Ebola outbreak, they again took a leading role in responding to COVID-19.
When UNMC reached out for help erecting and equipping three surge tents with electricity, internet, heat and air conditioning, Miller Electric employees responded with ingenuity and expertise.
Other times, project work indirectly helped communities more effectively cope with the coronavirus crisis. From finishing corporate headquarters buildings so that employees would be able to effectively and safely distance at work to completing specialized care centers for children with special needs, Miller Electric was privileged to lend its skill and insight to many noteworthy projects throughout 2020.
To be ranked the number 32 electrical firm in America and the number 100 contractor in the country overall is a privilege we owe entirely to our customers and employees. The fact that our employees have been able to continue to work, safely, throughout the pandemic on a variety of projects that continue to spur growth and innovation in the greater metropolitan Omaha area is another reason for our ENR ranking.
Top firms are marked by work in diverse industries and that is certainly true for Miller Electric. Projects worked on in 2020 alone include jobs in healthcare, data centers, education, industrial facilities, office buildings and smaller, custom commercial work for retailers and art galleries.
A look over Miller Electric’s project portfolio reveals diversity as strong and beautiful as that of the community we call home.
Our ranking is a shared honor; a mark of your success as much as ours. At Miller Electric, we will let it continue to drive us to get the job done right the first time, on time and within budget, throughout this year and every year to come.
